Update Manager
Rostyman checks for updates automatically in the background and installs them without interrupting your work.
Automatic Updates
- Checks for a new version every 4 hours while the app is running
- Downloads the update silently in the background
- When ready, shows an update badge (▲ icon) in the status bar
- You decide when to restart — no forced restarts
How to Install an Update
- Click the update badge (▲) in the status bar
- A prompt appears: "Rostyman X.X.X is ready to install"
- Click Restart & Install to apply the update immediately
- Or dismiss — the badge stays until your next restart
Manual Check
Go to Settings → About → Updates and click Check for Updates to check immediately without waiting for the 4-hour cycle.
Updates Tab
The Updates sub-tab in Settings shows:
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Current version | Your installed version |
| Latest version | Most recent available release |
| Download progress | Progress bar if an update is currently downloading |
| Release history | Last 5 releases with changelogs (click to expand) |
| Download button | Manually download any listed version |
Click Show More to load older releases beyond the default 5.
Rollback
Each release entry in the Updates tab has a Download button. Click it to download and install any previous version — useful if a new release causes an unexpected issue.
macOS Note
On macOS, Rostyman is not yet code-signed. If the auto-updater is blocked by Gatekeeper after an update, run this in Terminal once:
xattr -cr /Applications/Rostyman.app
